HSE Advisor – Vestas Onshore Wind Project | Finland
We are looking for a qualified and motivated HSE Advisor to join our team on a Vestas Onshore wind turbine installation project in Finland.
In this role, you will support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards on site, working closely with site management, technicians, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. Your focus will be on promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements, and helping prevent incidents throughout the installation process.
About the Role
As an HSE Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting safe and efficient site operations during onshore wind turbine installation activities. You will monitor compliance with HSE procedures, conduct site inspections, identify potential hazards, and work proactively with the project team to address safety concerns.
You will also support risk assessments, toolbox talks, incident reporting, and the continuous improvement of HSE performance on site.
This position is based on a Vestas Onshore project in Finland and offers the opportunity to work in an international environment within the renewable energy sector. You will collaborate with a diverse team of wind professionals and contribute directly to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with company HSE procedures, project requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections, safety observations, and workplace audits to identify hazards and unsafe practices.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the project-specific HSE plan.
Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage safe working practices among technicians, Team Leaders, subcontractors, and other site personnel.
Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and method statements.
Conduct and support toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE awareness activities.
Monitor the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with site safety rules.
Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours, communicate findings to the relevant personnel, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
Support incident, accident, and near-miss reporting, investigation, and follow-up.
Maintain accurate HSE documentation, inspection records, and safety reports.
Cooperate closely with the Site Manager, Project Management, customer representatives, and subcontractors on HSE-related matters.
Support emergency preparedness and ensure that site personnel understand relevant emergency procedures.
Monitor environmental requirements and promote responsible practices throughout project activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to strengthen site safety performance.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Previous experience as an HSE Advisor, HSE Officer, Safety Advisor, or in a similar health and safety role.
Experience in construction, industrial projects, renewable energy, or wind turbine installation is highly desirable.
Good understanding of occupational health and safety principles, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Knowledge of incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes.
Experience conducting site inspections, safety audits, toolbox talks, and HSE briefings.
Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and communicate practical safety improvements.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to address unsafe practices professionally.
Ability to work effectively with site management, technicians, subcontractors, and international teams.
A proactive, organized, and hands-on approach to HSE management.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider project team.
Good English communication skills are required to communicate effectively in an international working environment.
Relevant HSE qualifications are required or considered a strong advantage, depending on project requirements.
Willingness to work on site in Finland and adapt to the project's working schedule.
Legal right to work in Finland, in accordance with applicable requirements.
