About the role
We are looking for experienced Wind Technicians to join our Service team working on the Vineyard Wind Project off the coast of Massachusetts. This role will be responsible for supporting preventive and corrective maintenance for the Vineyard Wind Farm. Technicians will live on Martha’s Vineyard Island, transporting to the wind farm by Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) or Helicopter and will work rotations of either six weeks on and two weeks off, or six weeks on and three weeks off.
The Service Technician executes maintenance activities, ensuring all work is performed according to technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The Service Technician supports the delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects that contribute to the expansion of renewable energy across the United States.
Key responsibilities
Performs installation, material handling, inventory, inspection, commissioning, or maintenance of completed GE turbines.
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbine systems
Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults
Carries out repairs and replacements of turbine components
Conducts routine inspections and monitoring of turbines
Reads and interprets technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
Works safely in accordance with HSE procedures and wind industry standards
Supports installation and commissioning of wind turbines when required
Completes detailed service reports and maintenance documentation
Ensures proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and PPE
Collaborates with team members and site supervisors to ensure efficient operations
Works at height and in challenging environmental conditions
Climbs multiple towers per day without a climb-assist.
Works rotating shifts which may include night shifts.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Technical knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, acquired through professional experience or relevant academic qualifications. These competencies are essential for the successful performance of the role and will be assessed during the recruitment process.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards by consistently adhering to company policies and procedures, promoting regulatory compliance, and contributing to the prevention of workplace incidents and environmental risks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
Ability to analyze technical and operational issues, make sound decisions, and implement effective solutions using available resources.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team, contribute to shared goals, and foster a positive, cooperative work environment aligned with MWS values.
Minimum Requirements
3+ years of experience in a similar role within the wind industry.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to pass a drug screening, background check, motor vehicle record check, and physical examination.
Ability to work in demanding environments, including adverse weather conditions and flexible schedules.
Ability to safely use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses, helmets, lanyards, and fall protection equipment.
Ability to climb ladders exceeding 800 feet multiple times per day.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
Ability to demonstrate adequate visual acuity, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and color recognition.
Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, technical manuals, and work procedures including TWP, WDI, PCAT, FCAT, CCT etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
