About the role

As a Business Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of a business unit or department, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

Based in our Porto office, Portugal, the role involves budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing profitability, costs, and operational KPIs.

Acting as a strategic partner to management, the Business Controller provides insights and recommendations to support decision-making, investment planning, and cost optimisation. They prepare financial reports, monitor performance against targets, and ensure compliance with corporate policies, fostering financial discipline and contributing to sustainable business growth.

Key responsibilities

The role covers a number of key areas, including but not limited to the following:

• Prepare, monitor, and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial performance for the assigned business unit or department;

• Track key financial and operational KPIs, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement;

• Provide management with actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business growth;

• Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements;

• Perform profitability analysis by product, service, client, or market segment;

• Support investment planning, cost control initiatives, and operational efficiency programs;

• Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to facilitate data-driven decision making;

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial objectives with operational plans and business strategy.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Experience of financial and management reporting, budget accounting, and financial modeling;

• Knowledge of analytical accounting and business operations;

• Experience of decision-making, problem-solving, and results-oriented support;

• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, and work presentation skills;

• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
