On-site HSE Advisor | Rotterdam, Netherlands
We are looking for an experienced On-site HSE Advisor to support our wind energy projects in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This role is responsible for promoting and maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental performance on site, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant legislation.
About The Role
As an On-site HSE Advisor, you will act as the primary HSE representative at site level, supporting Site Management in implementing the project HSEQ Plan and ensuring that all personnel operate safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
You will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting inspections, monitoring compliance, supporting incident investigations, and providing practical HSE guidance to operational teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Working as part of an international project team, you will contribute to the safe and successful delivery of renewable energy projects while helping drive continuous improvement across all HSE activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support Site Management in implementing the HSEQ Plan and ensuring suitable and sufficient work methods are in place.
Implement and monitor site HSE procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel.
Conduct and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements before project commencement and throughout project execution.
Ensure all personnel read, understand, and sign relevant Risk Assessments and Method Statements before commencing work.
Deliver site inductions and ensure all newcomers understand site-specific HSE requirements.
Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits, preparing reports that highlight both positive observations and areas for improvement.
Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring findings and corrective actions are properly documented.
Monitor, report, and follow up on incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Coordinate, inspect, and monitor HSE conditions throughout the progress of work.
Review hazardous substances used on site and ensure relevant COSHH assessments and MSDS documentation are maintained and readily available.
Promote a proactive safety culture and provide guidance to personnel on HSE best practices.
Act as the key site-level contact for HSE matters involving employees, subcontractors, and clients.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Previous experience as an HSE Advisor, HSE Officer, or similar role within wind energy, construction, industrial, or heavy engineering environments.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices.
Experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Ability to review and implement safe systems of work and HSE procedures.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent reporting and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently while supporting site management and operational teams.
Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
Fluent English required.
Relevant HSE qualifications and certifications are highly desirable.
